This was an entirely new size within the Habanos portfolio and was created to commemorate the 520th anniversary of the arrival of the Habano in Europe following Christopher Columbus’s discovery of Cuba in 1492. Montecristo was a fitting brand to choose given that it was and still is the best selling premium cigar brand today.
